Victor, Send the Assassins to the Emperor
“As Demon King-sama had said earlier, do exactly what I told you.”
“…… All right”
No one in the Demon Kingdom had ever been to the Ashtran Empire, so they couldn’t use Aleira’s Gate.
A messenger was needed to send the assassins.
Keith chose Victor as a messenger to the Empire.
Judging from his intuition, Keith thought that Victor was the most normal one of the four heavenly kings.
“But I don’t know what a coffin is. Oi you.”
Called by Victor, the assassin Elada straightened her back.
Next to her was Abigail, who was being carried by a wolf.
Zelkin’s body, that was put in a wooden box, was regaining his human form with the help of Aleira’s restoration magic.
But just like before his death, his fearful expression remained.
“What is a coffin?”
“Yes, that’s something like a wooden box to place humans after their death …”
“Can you make it?”
Elada answered while cold sweat flowed on her forehead.
“I’m sorry … I don’t have any experience in carpentry …”
“Is that so……”
Victor walked with a wooden box containing Zelkin and a wolf carrying Abigail.
Elada who was ordered to follow, followed Victor with a frightened expression.
Victor headed to the fort.
“Yo! Victor-nii chan! As expressionless as usual!”
It was boss who greeted Victor.
“You are with a cute nee-chan! What happened?”
“I caught her. Bring me to the carpenter …”
“Caught? Well, wait a minute.”
Victor came to the carpenter.
“I needed a coffin …”
When he heard that, a shadow was casted on the smiling boss’s face.
“He has become the demon king, so he can’t always avoid killing.”
Boss looked at the distance.
“Demon King-sama said to avoid killing as much as possible …”
“Keith would say that ….. listen to what he says.”
“Of course …”
The boss tapped Victor’s shoulder and returned to the fort.
“Then, you have something with me?”
Victor replied to the carpenter.
“I needed coffins, three.”
(I’m also included!)
Elada’s mind was filled with her becoming a piece of meat like Zelkin or maybe losing her sanity like the corps leader.
(Perhaps I’m not going to die easily … but I already prepared …)
That kind of death was still something out lf ordinary.
Victor looked back at Elada who was trembling.
“Demon King-sama had said before, Demon King-sama wants you to go to heaven … so rest assured.”
At the death sentence, Elada’s face turned white.
“Coffin, huh. I have enough materials, so I’ll make it. Wait for a while.”
Victor sat on a bench outside the fort and watched the coffin being made
Beside him, Elada was standing still.
“… I want to ask something.”
Elada said boldly.
“I … how will you kill me?”
Victor replied, thinking for a while.
“I don’t know about that …”
Victor answered, looking at the face and body of Elada.
“Well, you will die soon …”
Elada still looked healthy and, given the life expectancy of humans, still have much time to live.
Victor replied while thinking like that, but there was no way Elada could know that.
“I see … I’m going to die soon …”
Elada clenched her trembling fist.
(The torture of the demons … I have no choice but to hope they don’t do that to me …)
“It’s done, Victor-nii chan. It’s a simple one though, but I doubt someone can go to the heaven with this.”
“That’s enough, thanks …”
“This much is nothing. If you are done, put the lid using the nails. Do you need a hammer?”
“No, I don’t need it…”
The carpenter returned while Victor was holding a bunch of nails
Viktor puts Zelkin’s body and Abigail’s inflated stomach in a coffin.
“Ehe, ehe, abyi, aah, aah…”
With the lid on, Victor pushed the nail in with his bare hand.
Elada could only see it.
“You enter the coffin too”
Putting a human that was still alive into a coffin – probably Elada was going to be burned alive.
It was a terrible death, but it was far better than the corps leader.
“Demon King-sama said you are going to be a card, so enter here.”
Was it a peculiar expression for the demons?
Elada didn’t know what that meant.
Elada laid down in the coffin.
She felt like she was really dead.
I hope I could die comfortably like this — Elada hoped.
A lid was placed on top of the coffin.
Victor carried the three coffins at once and loaded them on a cart.
The cart was connected to two wolves summoned by Diana.
Victor who was on the front gently pulled the reins.
“Have a safe trip!”
Then Aleira who came to see Victor just before he departed.
“Since the restoration magic on the corpse can only last three days, please arrive within three days!”
――The trip itself took two weeks to arrived at the empire
